Alexis Leps
Alexis obtained his degree of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Liège in 2016. After a rotating internship at the Clinique équine de Méheudin in Normandy and an assistantship focused on equine surgery and orthopedics at the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Nantes, he started a residency in Equine Dentistry and Maxillo-facial surgery under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lieven Vlaminck at the University of Gent. In 2024, he became a certified diplomate of the EVDC Eq. Currently, he is back to his roots and set to offer the best possible dental and maxillo-facial care to French based horses.
Anders Eriksson
Anders was employed by the Royal Stables as rider, coachman, farrier from 1985 to 1991. ·Today his main activity is education in long reining around Sweden, the Nordic countries and some courses in the USA. He is also producing educational materials books, videos in horse knowledge & bits.
He is a member of collaboration group at SLU/SCAW and tasked together with veterinarian Sara Nyman to produce film on what our animal protection law says regarding equipment, training and competition with horses.
Bernadette Immel
DVM, PhD, president and examiner of IGFP e.V., IAED/c
DVM and specialized in equine dentistry since 2000. Bernadette Immel is running her own practice for equine dentistry since 2009, was certified by IGFP/Germany in 2010, and by the IAED/USA in 2014 and obtained an additional qualification in equine dentistry of the Veterinary Chamber of Hessen in Germany. She also works as a freelance surgeon in equine head surgery in different equine clinics. Bernadette Immel enjoys teaching and training colleagues at various stages of their careers in addition to working with her staff in her own practice.
Carsten Staszyk

The main interest in my profession is veterinary dentistry / equine dentistry, covering odontology and dental malformation, cells in the dental pulp and the periodontium, temporomandibular joint and paranasal sinus anatomy and pathology.
I also work on education of beginners and professionals in the field of equine dentistry.
Dimitris Letsos
Dimitris Letsos is a graduate of the veterinary school of the Aristotle university of Thessaloniki. He has worked as a general practitioner, first as an employee and since 2009 in his own clinic in Athens, Greece. During this process he had first hand experience with some of the challenges the profession faces today: the stress, the mental fatigue, the bullying. Wanting to be part of the solution, for the last 4 years he has been a member of the education committee of Not One More Vet and more recently of the anti-bullying task force and the advisory committee. He is also serving as Ambassadors International Chapters Relationship Manager for Not One More Vet.
Dowen Birkhed
Professor emeritus Dowen Birkhed recieved his dental degree (DDS) in 1970 and hid PhD in 1974 at Malmö University. He became PRofessor and Chairman of the Department of Cariology in Gothenburg University in 1989 and hold this position for 25 years until he retired 2014 and moved back to Malmö.

He has been a tutor for approximately 50 PhD students. His research intersests are caries risk assessment methods ans caries precention fith fluoride toothpaste. Dowen's h-index, according to Google Scholar, is 75.
Dowen has collaborated with Torbjörn Lundström during more than 15 years, on pH measurements in caries lesions, dietary habits and on saliva composition in horses and they have recently submitted two papers to veterinary journals.
Fabrice Bodeus
Fabrice lives in Chimay, Belgium. He graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Liege. He quickly developed an interest in dentistry. In 2014 he opened the first equine dental practice in Wallonia and now he offers his services in different clinics of Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg. In 2016 he received the certificate of equine dentistry at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Liège. In 2023 he joined the faculty of human dentistry at the University of Liège. Fabrice has a very marked interest in conservative care, orthodontic and prostodontic procedure.
Since 2022, his clinic has joined the IVCE-Evidensia group and has also developed an advanced dentistry activitie for small animals and wildlife.
Henry Tremaine
Henry Tremaine is currently a surgeon specialising in equine maxillofacial surgery and dentistry at B&W Equine clinic in Gloucestershire, UK. Previously he was on faculty at the universities of Edinburgh, Ohio State and Bristol. He is past president of the EVDC, and treasurer of WEVA. He and participates as a course veterinarian and race meetings and events, as well as lecturing and publishing internationally.
Katarina Nostell
Swedish specialist in equine diseases, PhD equine medicine, lecturer and Associate Professor @ SLU
I graduated as a veterinarian in 1992. After working in mixed animal practice a couple of years, I started my PhD position in equine medicine in 1995 and defended my thesis with the title “Muscle metabolic response to maximal exercise in Standardbred trotters” in 2000. Since then I have worked as a clinical instructor/clinician and lecturer at the department. A major part of my work is dedicated to teaching and supervising veterinary students in the clinic during their equine medicine rotation. My research focus is the effects of Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) on the horse's cardiovascular system and markers for cardiovascular diseases in horses. My research group is also studying new medications that hopefully will allow us to save many horses suffering from laminitis.
Jesper Rosenmeyer
DVM, CertAVP Dentistry
After earning my veterinary degree in 2007, I completed an internship in the UK. I then practiced in general equine veterinary care, with a primary focus on equine dentistry, until 2016, when I founded Hestetandklinikken (Equine Dental Clinic) in Denmark. At Hestetandklinikken, we specialize exclusively in equine dental care, serving as a referral clinic for clients throughout Denmark and parts of Sweden. Today, our team includes 8 veterinarians and 3 veterinary nurses. My main interests include sinus conditions and the careful consideration of antibiotic use in equine dentistry.
In addition to my work at Hestetandklinikken, I am the owner of Equine Dental Products, where I offer premium dental equipment for equine care from the UK-based company Dearson, that I am also a partner in.
Jessica Roßgardt

Kati Tuomola
DVM, PhD
I’m veterinarian within ambulatory horse practice since 2005 with main focus in equine dentistry. My thesis titled "Bit-related lesions and risk factors in competing trotters and event horses" was published in 2022. In addition to horse dentistry, bit-related mouth injuries and rein tension, I'm interested in horse/animal welfare/rights, animal ethics, animal law, equitation science, senior horses, and fear free veterinary care. At this moment I’m doing qualitative research on medication safety at University of Helsinki and visit dentistry patients in my private practice.
Laura Heilen
I’m currently working on veterinary dentistry / equine dentistry with focus on cells in the dental pulp and the periodontium, molecular biological studies of dental tissue and isolated cells. The aim is to improve the knowledge of occurring processes inside equine hypsodont teeth during elongation and eruption on a cellular level.
I also participate in education of beginners and professionals in the field of equine dentistry.
Leena Karma
DVM, EVDC (Equine) resident, FNCED
Leena Karma works as an equine veterinarian in south Finland in private equine dental clinic (Porvoon Hevosklinikka, Porvoo, Finland) since 2010. She graduated as a DVM from Tartu Agricultural University, Estonia 1999 and from University of Helsinki 2003. She started her EVDC equine dental recidency in 2020. Before she established her equine dental clinic in Porvoo, she worked in different private equine clinics as both first and second opinion veterinarian. In her clinic she provides referral services in advanced equine dentistry including dental and sinus surgerys. She lectures nationally and internationally in the field of equine dentistry. She also provides equine dental CPD courses for both students and veterinarians. Her main professional interest is in restorative and endodontic therapies.
Mads Pårup
DVM, fNCED
Graduated from Copenhagen University in 2011 and has since 2017 had a private equine practice with a focus on dentistry South of Gothenburg in Sweden. Today the practice has developed to a referral clinic and ambulatory practice with equine dentistry as the primary patient group. Over recent years the practice expanded to include zoo animals and pain management.
Manfred Stoll

DVM since 1990, Manfred Stoll dedicated himself to equine dentistry for more than 20 years now. He’s quickly started developing a new extraction procedure: (Transbuccal Screw extraction acc. to Stoll). Manfred Stoll is also a horse dental practitioner acc. IGFP and since 2016, a EVDC (equine) diplomate.
in 2018, Manfred Stoll was recognized as a fellow member of the Nordic College of Equine Dentistry.
Molly Rice
DVM, DAVDC-EQ
Molly graduated from veterinary school in 2003. She enjoyed general equine practice until 2009 when she dedicated her practice focus exclusively to dentistry. She became a Board Certified Equine Veterinary DentistTM in 2018. In addition to her clinical practice, she enjoys teaching horse owners, veterinary students and other veterinarians about all facets of equine dentistry. She is an active member of the AVDC, serving on the Exam Committee for the past 6 years, and recently joining the Board as the Equine Representative.
Neil Townsend

Neil qualified from Bristol University in 2004 and after a brief period in mixed practice embarked on an equine only career starting with an Equine internship at Liverpool University and surgical residency at the University of Edinburgh. He re-joined Liverpool University in 2010 as a surgery clinician, setting up an advanced dentistry service including standing CT. During this time, he gained European Diplomas in both Equine Surgery and Veterinary Dentistry (Equine). He became a Fellow of the RCVS in 2023.
He joined private practice in 2015 where he provided both an in-house and peripatetic advanced dentistry and surgery service. He set up his own peripatetic advanced dentistry and surgery consultancy service in May 2023. He is interested in all aspects of equine surgery and advanced dentistry and lectures nationally and internationally on these subjects.
Nicole du Toit

Nicole qualified from South Africa, followed by an equine residency and PhD in equine dentistry at Edinburgh University. Nicole is a diplomate of the European and American Veterinary Dental Colleges (equine). Since 2019 Nicole has been a co-director with Chris Pearce, and recently Richard Reardon at the Equine Dental Clinic where they continue to provide a busy equine dental referral service at their state-of-the-art purpose built equine dental clinic in Dorset, UK. They also travel all over the UK and abroad providing this service. Nicole is passionate about promoting the importance of good dental care for horses as it is an essential part of their general welfare. In addition, veterinary education to improve general vet knowledge about equine dentistry and to know what is best practice will help to achieve this.
Nina Lundgren
Dr. Nina Lundgren, founder of Svenska Hästtandvården AB in Ängelholm, Sweden, has been a veterinarian since 2001 and a dedicated equine odontologist since 2008. Working full-time in equine dentistry, she provides a wide range of services, from routine check-ups to advanced referral cases - farm visits as well as clinic settings -always with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. 2020 she became a NCEDfellow, and since 2023 she is a board member of NCED, reflecting the interest of sharing knowledge.
Dr. Lundgren has a particular passion for periodontics and endodontics and will share her insights regarding the use of diode laser as a complementary aid in both areas.
Aside from the dentistry she is passionate about human-horse relationship and dito communication - as well as wave surfing.

Peter Fahlstedt

After 20 years as a private practitioner in general dentistry, I introduced lasers into my daily practice, a decision that has since redefined my profession. Today, I continue to be enthralled by laser treatments' consistent and positive results, from reliable biomodulation to advanced surgery and everything in between. The predictability and precision of these treatments are a testament to the reliability and effectiveness of laser technology in dentistry. Nowadays, I spend my time conducting research, educating others in this field, and playing with our grandchildren.
Rob Pascoe

Rob has worked in the field of equine veterinary dentistry for over 25 years. He is a founding Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College and was the first RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Veterinary Dentistry in 2015. He is an honorary fellow of the Nordic College of Equine Dentistry and has lectured widely on the subject in the UK, Europe and North America.
He is a past chairman of both the British Veterinary Dental and Equine Veterinary Dental Associations.
In 2024, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for meritorious contribution to the profession in light of his work in the field of equine dentistry.
Stijn Teysen
DVM, fNCED, board member of NCED
Stijn graduated from the University of Ghent (Belgium) in 2004.
In 2011, Stijn took a significant step in his career by establishing his own veterinary practice focusing on equine dentistry. Exactly a decade later, in 2021, he went on to found Vetrident, a new equine dental referral practice located in the heart of the country.
His board member position reflects his commitment to being part of the evolution of equine dentistry towards a minimally invasive discipline and improving equine welfare..
Tamás Tóth

Swedish Specialist in Equine Diseases
Graduated 1998 Budapest. Previously 16 years of SLU, Head of Equine Surgery UDS.
Currently full-time consulting surgeon Mälaren Hästklinik, Altano Group, visiting surgeon Evidensia Strömsholm, DV Umåker, Brunmåla HK. Committee member of ECVS.
Main area of interest is arthroscopic, laparoscopic, abdominal surgery, fracture repair and surgery of the head.
Torbjörn Lundström
DDS, LDSAH, f ICD, fNCED, chairman NCED
Dr Lundström started out as a human dentist in 1979. After a while, he chose to leave human mouths for the wonders of horses, cats, dogs and zoologic animal mouths instead, starting up his clinic, Djurtandvårdskliniken, in Söderköping, Sweden.
Besides the dentistry work, the research and the lecturing at congresses and courses all over the world, he is one of the pillars of the odontology courses at the Swedish Agricultural University in Uppsala, and he is also the founder and chairman of NCED.
Wouter Demey
Wouter Demey is an equine veterinarian solely focusing in modern equine dentistry, handling around 2,000 cases annually, many referred by veterinarians across Europe. He is actively involved in professional development, regularly attending and contributing to international conferences on equine dentistry. His expertise has earned him recognition, including certifications and leadership roles, such as being a founding board member of the Nordic College of Equine Dentistry
